The pool is added to once a minute by the casino clock, from the stakes that settled since the last run. A hit takes the whole pool at that moment and the pool starts again from zero.
Your chance per bet
The chance of a bet grows with its stake, so every dollar staked has the same chance. The formula:
chance = stake x contribution / target average 1 in N = 1 / chance
The expected jackpot value of a stake is chance times average pool, which is exactly the contribution. The jackpot adds the same share to every player's return, whatever the stake and whatever the game.

Provably fair
The jackpot is drawn from your own seed pair and the bet's nonce, with its own message, so it never shifts the numbers of the game itself:
roll = HMAC_SHA256(server seed, "client seed:nonce:jackpot"), first 4 bytes as a number in [0, 1) hit when roll < chance
The chance is saved on every bet when it is made. A later change of the settings cannot rewrite what a bet's odds were. Rotate your seeds and recompute any roll in the browser.
